...so I'm sorry, but I need to know what a good digital video camera/company is. I'm relatively new to digital video, as I have always edited with analog, and digital isn't only prettier, but so much more convenient. The price range is about $500-700, so I'm hoping I can get camera with an external mic jack, solid video picture...just my moneys worth. I know there are other threads about this, but it would be a tedious task to go looking for all of them, and then looking for the ones within my price range, so a brief synopsis about a certain camera and or company and the reasons why would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

This is a thread crying out to be flamed

It might be tedious to look through all those threads, but I'm sure it's equally as tedious to continue to type out a list of cameras which will inevitably be rejected due to insufficient funds/no mic jack/no cock port (maybe not the last one).

As BelovedMonster might say, head on over to Simply DV. It is good.
